How To Block No Caller Id On Iphone 6
There are 3 easy ways to block no caller ID on iPhone. Choose between using the Do Not Disturb settings, using your Contacts settings, or your service provider's filtering service. I've owned and used iPhones since I was mature enough to get on my own cell phone plan. I've fiddled with all the settings, and I like showing you neat little hacks to make your experience Apple-certified.
In this article, I'll share three proven ways on how to block no caller ID calls on iPhone. So, sit back, grab a pen, and follow along.
3 Quick and Easy Ways to Block No Caller ID Calls On iPhone
1. Block Calls With No Caller ID Using Contacts
A friend of mine (we'll call him Ricky) is too lazy to create a no caller ID blocklist for unknown calls. Well, there is an easier way to do this by using one of the most basic iPhone utilities: Call blocking via your contacts list.
Let's do it the Ricky way:
Step 1
Go to your home screen. Then find and launch the "Contacts" app.
Step 2
Look out for a "+" icon on the right upper corner of your screen and tap on it.
Step 3
Now you'll need to create a new entry on your contact list. Enter 000-000-0000 in the number field. You can call this new entry "No caller ID" or whatever you like. Confirm and tap "done".
Step 4
Scroll down to the bottom of the list. Now, select "Block this caller".
Step 5
Tap block contact to add the caller to your blocklist.
Effect
This procedure saves you loads of time as there are no additional steps.
2. Block Calls Using Do Not Disturb Settings
I like using the Do Not Disturb mode when I need to focus on a task. Activating it will mute/silence calls, notifications, and other phone alerts. However, this setting can also shield you from private calls that show no caller ID.
Here's how to set it up:
Step 1
Go to your phone's settings app/menu.
Step 2
Keep scrolling till you find the "do not disturb" option, then click on it.
Step 3
When the screen loads, you'll see a toggle on the "Do Not Disturb" option. Toggle to activate. You'll know it's active when it turns green.
I usually confirm this by looking out for a moon-shaped icon on the status bar.
Step 4
Look for an "Allow Calls From" option in the "Do Not Disturb" menu. Tap on it to activate. Now, you're almost home.
Step 5
This last bit is a bit of a drag but not complicated. Next, a list of options will pop up. Scroll to the bottom of the list to find an "All Contacts" option.
A small checkmark will appear on the right side of each name on your contact list. You can use it to block unknown calls or calls from anyone you don't want to talk to.
Effect
This effectively blocks no caller ID callers as well as calls from unknown numbers. Hence, a caller that's not listed in your contacts won't be able to get through to you.
3. Using Your Carrier's Call Filter Service
The two methods above won't deter telemarketers and other spam callers, however. These people can always call you from another number that seems legitimate.
Most American cell phone carriers have effective call filtering services as part of their plan.
Here are some of the call filter services available on popular US networks:
Brighthouse
The best thing about Bright House's no caller ID rejection filter is that it's free. I liked trying it out because you don't have to deal with a customer care rep.
These are the steps to follow:
Step 1
Listen for a dial tone on any iPhone with a Brighthouse account.
Step 2
On your keypad, dial "*77". You'll hear 3 beeps confirming that the anonymous call rejection feature is active.
Step 3
Now you can hang up the phone.
To deactivate the feature, repeat the procedure. But dial "*87" this time, wait for the beeps, then hang up.
AT&T Mobile
AT&T offers 2 plans that Block Calls with No caller ID.
The basic plan: free but offers limited features
The Plus plan: comes with a monthly subscription fee that provides a more aggressive filter against no caller ID callers.
Verizon
Verizon also has 2 tiers to their anonymous call block service.
The free call filter plan: effectively detects all spam callers. This plan also blocks them and has a framework for reporting any that gets past the radar.
The call filter plus plan: has more aggressive filters and covers you if you operate 3 or more lines. It also comes with a flexible monthly subscription fee.
T-Mobile
T mobile has 3 plans for Blocking Anonymous Callers.
Scam ID and Scam block service: Both are free to use by any of T-Mobile's clients. They identify and screen out all known scammers and spammers.
T-Mobile premium plan: This plan includes a "Name ID" feature. It not only identifies and blocks no ID callers, you can also use it to reverse search scammers to take action against them.
Sprint
Sprint mobile offers a free basic plan and a premium plan that stops all unwanted calls.
Bonus Tips
National Do Not Call Registry
The National Do Not Call Registry was created to help consumers stay free from unwanted telemarketing and seller calls. After signing up, you won't receive phone calls from sales and marketing people. However, you will still get calls from charities, surveys, and political groups.
Here's how you can go about it:
- Fill out this online form to register your phone number for free
- Check out the registry's FAQs section to learn which numbers don't get filtered
- Report any unwanted calls to the FTC that pass through the filter within a month of registering
Call Blocking using a Phone App
With No Caller ID apps for iPhone, you can rest assured that you'll always know who is calling. Even better, these apps give you the option to block unknown callers using the no caller ID to mask their identity. With so many options available for iOS, you will be spoiled for choice: RoboKiller, Truecaller phone app, Hiya, TrapCall, etc.
Conclusion
If you're concerned about protecting your privacy, it's best to block no caller id calls. These usually come from telemarketers or scammers and can be risky. Using the highlighted steps above, you are one step closer to getting rid of pesky and unrelenting marketers.
